![]() Something like 'Magic Pixel Pinball' or 'Magic Pixel's Museum Of Pinball'? Though I'm not sure how the Postal tables would fit into the latter. I guess some sort of rebrand could be required to get versions of real-life tables from other manufacturers, which would have it's own issues. Good point I guess i misread the question and went off on one about what licences Magic Pixel should acquire and work on next, rather than what might end up as DLC in the existing Zaccaria Pinball game. I suspect the reason Zen have cranked out so many Marvel and Star Wars tables is that the masses seem to lap that sh1t up). I’d like to see more digital recreations of older or more obscure real-life tables please! (Easier said than done though of course and I have no idea of the extent to which such tables would have mass appeal so it might not be profitable to go down this route. For example, at face value some of the Zaccaria EM and SS tables might not seem like anything special in terms of gameplay or aesthetics but they still have tremendous value (to me anyway) insofar as they’re preserving a bit of pinball history and making these tables available to people who’ve never had the chance to play them in real-life. And I think you can get away with putting out “worse”/“less exciting” tables if they are recreations of real-life tables. There’s also no need to devise a new table layout or rule set so it’s potentially also simpler (and cheaper) in that respect. That way there are potentially fewer parties involved which could help to keep the cost down. In some ways I think the safest type of license might be for older real-life tables that aren’t connected with movies, tv shows, games, bands etc. There are also examples where licensed tables just look and feel like lazy reskins or variants of other tables with a new theme having just been crowbarred in. Also, it can be extremely irritating to hear a certain line from a movie repeated ad nauseam when it’s used as a call out, even if it was done by the original voice actor. For example, some of the Zen tables based on movies use imitation voice actors which can be really off-putting. However… there’s a risk that the IP in question isn’t done justice and it detracts from one’s enjoyment of it. To me Zaccaria, Taito and Running With Scissors seem like they’d be very different companies/developers to work with, but who knows? Would be interesting to know the stories of how these agreements came about here’s an idea for your podcast!).Īs for what licenses I’d like to see in future… I’m pretty into horror movies and metal so perhaps something along those lines. It's hard to predict what new licenses Magic Pixel will acquire.
